Walsall Labeller at Amberley

An automatic label application system with a built-in coding unit is being used on new sausage line at Amberley Foods Ltd. This unit, from Walsall Labelling Systems of Walsall, has been installed at the end of the line producing weight and shape-controlled sausages that are stretchwrapped in 3lb trays. It is a twin-headed WLS TS125 machine and one of its heads is equipped with a hot foil printer which prints a date code on the prime label.

Prior to this installation, three labels were used - one just for the date code - and all were applied by hand. Now only two labels are needed and the line produces sausages at the rate of a ton an hour. With increasing output because of increased demand, this new system has improved both productivity and presentation.
