Walking group to help cancer patients.

SUPPORT charity Breast Cancer Care has launched a new walking group for people in and around Halifax and Huddersfield who have had a breast cancer diagnosis.

Walking is great for overall health and being active is recommended for people who've had cancer.

The Best Foot Forward Health Walks are designed for people of all abilities and fitness levels who want to get more active and feel better after treatment for breast cancer.

Each walk starts from a location that's easy to get to, such as a local park. The walk lasts between 30 minutes and an hour, and follows an easy route for people of all abilities. The group is led by trained walk leaders and you'll be walking alongside other people who've had a breast cancer diagnosis who can understand how you may be feeling.

Kay Green volunteers as a walk leader in Calderdale and said: "After my breast cancer diagnosis and surgery I was struggling to adjust to all the changes to my body. Looking for a way to get more active I signed up to a local Breast Cancer Care Best Foot Forward walking group.

"I look forward to the walks regardless of the weather as I always return home feeling so much better."

Anyone interested in joining a local Best Foot Forward Health Walk can the check the times and locations on the website www.breastcancercare.org.uk/bestfootforward or call 0845 077 1893.
