Walking festival launched by trust.

KEEN walkers and nature lovers are invited to take part in the National Trust's first-ever walking festival.

Trust properties in North Wales will be offering a wide selection of walks as part of the week-long event which starts on October 22.

There will be nearly 70 different walks to choose from over the week, so those taking part can take in some of the most stunning stretches of coastline and countryside in Wales.

The National Trust in Wales will also be revealing a Welsh celebrity's favourite walk at one of its properties and also wants to hear from the public about their favourite walks in Wales.

North Snowdonia Ranger Dewi Roberts said: "I hope our festival will inspire everyone to get out there and enjoy the outdoors.

"Thousands are expected to take part in the festival, which will include little ambles, jolly rambles and big challenges - from organised walks to those that can be downloaded in advance.

"There will be walks for everyone from parents pushing babies in buggies to full on mountain expeditions at all our places during the week.

"Of the nearly 70 walks on offer, there are 38 one-mile walks and more than 20 walks of a few miles or more.

"There are also four super-challenge walks where the serious walker can stretch their endurance over two days."

The one-mile walks, called NTOnes, are graded as flip-flop walks, welly walks, trainer walks and walking boot walks.

Dewi added there are a wide selection of locations and scenery to enjoy and all the walks are featured on the Walking in Wales section of the National Trust's website.
