Walbert wins test and evaluation division award.
James Walbert has been awarded the National Defense Industrial Association's 2011 Walter W. Hollis Award for lifetime achievement in defense test and evaluation. The award was presented at the organization's 27th Annual Test & Evaluation Conference, in Tampa, Fla., in March.
A mathematician with nearly four decades of experience in Defense Department T&E and related areas, Walbert serves as chief scientist for the Survice Engineering Co., headquartered in Belcamp, Md. His experience includes extensive work as an interior and exterior ballistician, vulnerability/lethality tester and analyst, materials engineer, author and educator.
"I have been so fortunate to have worked for and with people who understood the notion of critical thinking; people who would rather build an 'App' than buy one; and people who asked basic questions and strove to understand basic principles," Walbert said.
Prior to joining Survice, Walbert worked at the U.S. Army Material Testing Directorate, the Army Research Laboratory, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and served as the program manager for Joint Live Fire Armor/Anti-Armor.
