Wal-Mart/Sam's shopping center to open.

Wal-Mart and Sam's Wholesale Club (also owned by Wal-Mart) will be making their first entry into the Greater New York Metropolitan market with the opening of a new shopping center currently under construction at the intersection of Route 9 and 1-84 in Fishkill, New York. In addition to the Wal-Mart and Sam's there will be an additional 40,000 square feet of retail space being jointly developed by the Kempner Corporation and Firestein Properties. The Kempner Corporation is headquartered in White Plains, New York, and the Firestein Properties is located in Pound Ridge, New York. Both firms are active in the development, leasing and management of Shopping Centers.

Some of the other retailers expected to join the Shopping Center include national apparel, shoe and accessory stores.
