Waitrose choses Amcor for a solution to its packaging needs.
Waitrose has chosen Amcor Panorama for its own label range of prepared vegetables enabling the UK supermarket retailer to become the first to use the innovative solution for fresh produce.Developed initially by Amcor Flexibles for chilled food products such as cheese and fresh meat, Amcor Panorama is made out of paper and strip-laminated to a variety of substrates, which creates a clear window for product visibility. It combines the natural look and feel of paper with the functionality of the latest flexible packaging technology.
The Amcor Panorama pre-made bags, supplied by Amcor Flexibles Ledbury, are strip-laminated to 35 micron OPP with anti-mist and are flexo-printed in eight colours by sister company Amcor Flexibles Venus. Using Amcor P-Plus MAP technology, the packs are designed for optimised shelf-life while the clear window and anti-mist system enhances the visibility of the vegetables on the retail shelf, and the paper provides the perfect look and feel to emphasise the traditional and high quality nature of the product.
Packed by Prep Direct in the UK, the three products--Green Vegetable Selection with Pesto Butter, Garden Vegetables with a Lemon & Mint Butter and Mushroom & Tenderstem Broccoli with Garlic & Chilli Butter--went on sale in Waitrose stores earlier this year.
