Kathryn suggests gentle twisting exercises to help define the waist. Cycle twists and slow twists will both help.

To do a cycle twist, lie on your back. Bring the right knee up to the chest and extend the left leg out straight without touching the ground; as you bring the knee up to the chest, reach opposite elbow to knee. Repeat to the other side; try to do about two sets of 15 repetitions.

A slow twist consists of lying on your back with knees bent; do a basic curl, then twist to your right knee with left elbow, hold, come back to centre, hold, and lower to ground. Repeat to left, holding each movement for five counts.
