Wagner and the big red chair.
The red chairs of XXXL furniture stores are widely recognized from TV commercials. The world's largest chair, as confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records, is 30 meters tall and stands in St. Florian near Linz. It was manufactured by Wiehag and painted with a wet coating system from WAGNER. Furniture chain XXXLutz chose Wiehag GmbH in Altheim (Upper Austria) above all for its short delivery times and excellent product quality. Wiehag builds large-span bearing systems and complete roofs as well as roof, ceiling, and wall elements.
During production of the chairs, the height of up to 30 meters is no problem for Wiehag. "Wiehag is used to building large timber structures. The biggest challenge with the XXXL chairs was selecting the wood quality and the coating," reports Manfred Haimerl, plant manager at Wiehag. In the end, Wiehag used 70 cubic meters of laminated Douglas fir timber for the chair for the furniture store in St. Florian. The chair was coated using 140 liters of highly weatherproof paint and the WAGNER Puma 28-40 Airless Spraypack high-pressure piston pump with high-pressure filter and suction system as well as a WAGNER AG 14 Airless Gun. The result was a durable coating which was able to withstand the weather conditions for a long period of time.
