 WYSE LAUNCHES NEW SYSTEMS ACROSS ITS ENTIRE RANGE;
 PRICE LEADERS WITH SCALABILITY FOR INVESTMENT PROTECTION
 SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug.10 /PRNewswire/ -- Emphasizing investment protection at extremely competitive prices, Wyse Technology today unveiled several additions to its computer systems family, which ranges from ultra light notebooks to UNIX(R)-based multiprocessing systems that support upwards of 400 users. The new products feature scalability and give users the ability to significanly increase performance without losing their initial hardware investment.
 "With so many systems choices available today, users should also make sure they are investing in their future," said Rich Wesson, vice president of business development in the company's Systems Division. "Providing the ability to grow your system easily and at minimal expense as your computing needs grow is a key business objective at Wyse."
 Scalable systems announced today were:
 -- Decision 486si -- an upgradeable i486(TM)-based PC platform that

also features Wyse's new high-performance video subsystem, called Hyper16 Video. The PC provides the ability to make simple processor changes through the flick of a lever that releases the chip. This eliminates the expense of purchasing a whole new motherboard or upgrade board, and users can perform the simple task themselves. The new platform accommodates 16 to 33MHz i486(TM)SX and i486(TM)DX processors, as well as i486(TM)DX2-50, i486(TM)DX2-66 and Intel's new OverDrive(TM) upgrade processors. Hyper16 Video is an on-board local bus video engine that provides up to 300 percent improvement over conventional video cards running through an expansion board. The new PC is being initially released in three processor speeds: i486DX(TM)-33, i486DX2-50 and i486DX2-66. List prices start at $1,729 for the Decisions 486si-33DX, $1,999 for the Decision 486si-50DX2 and $2,399 for the Decision 486si- 66DX2. All systems are available now.
 -- Series 7000i, Model 740MP -- a new model of the company's mid- level series in its UNIX-based multiuser family. The new model, which incorporates Wyse's true symmetric multiprocessing (TSMP) architechure, can run with one to three i486DX-33 processors and support 64-175 users. TSMP architecture provides linear performance gains as users add processors to their system. The Model 740MP features industry standard SCSI peripherals and up to nine EISA I/O slots for maximum expandability while improving throughput to disks and local area networks. With a configured list price starting at $19,095, the Model 740MP is the most aggressively priced product in its class with PC compatibility, an EISA bus and TSMP architecture. The Series 7000 Model 740MP also is a development platform for Microsoft's operating environment, Microsoft Windows NT(TM).
 -- Series 9000i, Model 960MP -- the most powerful member of the high-end series in Wyse's UNIX-based family, the new model expands the user range previously supported from 250 to 400 users. The TSMP-based Model 960MP incorporates from one to eight i486DX2-50 microprocessors and has 16MB to 384MB of main memory. The company said the Model 960MP is suited for on-line transaction processing applications, database management, communications and software development environments. The configure list price for the series 9000i, Model 960MP starts at $39,895. Both the Model 960MP and the Model 740MP run Wyse's version UNIX System Laboratories (USL) UNIX System V Release 3.2 and Release 4.0MP. In the near future, they will run UNIX System V Release 4.2. The new multiprocessing models will begin shipping later this month.
 The company also announced the Decision 386SX/25C, a general purpose PC that incorporates high-performance features at an entry-level price and the Series 6000i, Model 645, a uniprocessor UNIX-based system with an i486DX-33 processor that can accommodate 16-64 users. List price for the new PC, which is available now, starts at $759, and the Model 645, which begins shipping later this month, costs $8,395.
