WYSE ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR USL'S UNIX SYSTEM V RELEASE 4.2
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyse Technology Inc. announced today its support for UNIX System Laboratories' (USL) new UNIX(R) System V Release 4.2 (UNIX SVR4.2). The new operating system, featuring modularity and ease of use through a graphical user interface (GUI), will be fully supported on Wyse systems, ranging from Intel-based notebooks, the full line of i386- and i486-based personal computers, up to the high-performance Series 6000i and Series 7000i platforms.
Wyse will certify, reference sell and support UNIX SVR4.2 through Wyse's reseller channels and support departments. For customer convenience, UNIX SVR4.2 will be distributed by USL and Univel when available.
"UNIX SVR4.2 is the first ready-to-run, break-the-seal UNIX System V product from USL and marks USL's aggressive entry into the package products market," said Tony Hampel, manager of software product marketing for Wyse Technology's Systems Division. "Wyse is fully supporting UNIX SVR4.2 to further reinforce our strategy of providing standards-based products that adhere to the Open Systems needs of our customers."
Wyse currently distributes an enhanced version of USL's UNIX SVR3.2 and UNIX SVR4.0 on its advanced systems platforms. With support of UNIX SVR4.2, Wyse expands its USL product coverage to systems previously running non-USL operating systems and continues its strong partnership with USL.
