WYLE TO DEVELOP $5.3 MILLION TRACK DYNAMICS LABORATORY

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyle Laboratories' (NYSE: WYL) Scientific Services & Systems Group has been awarded a $5.3 million contract by the Chinese Academy of Railway Sciences (CARS) to provide test facilities for a Track Dynamics Laboratory. CARS, the Chinese center for railway sciences and technology, provides solutions to crucial problems and contributions to increased transport capacity and railway modernization.
Wyle will design a full-scale track test system and track component test facilities at Beijing, Peoples of Republic of China. The company will also provide system engineering services to integrate the equipment into the facility, as well as training in engineering test planning, operations and performance evaluation. Test systems will include electro-hydraulic loading, fatigue wear determination, soil mechanics, and computer control, data acquisition and analysis.
The Track Dynamics Laboratory will include linear induction motor propulsion which is similar to Maglev (magnetic levitation) technology.
The design, fabrication and installation of this state-of-the-art railway test facility will be completed within two years to coincide with the Sixth International Heavy Haul Railway Conference hosted by China in 1993.
