WXYZ-TV/CHANNEL 7 ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS/ADDITION TO WEATHER ANCHOR TEAM

 SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 has announced its new weather anchor team line-up with the promotions of weathercasters Rob Kress to the station's 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts and Jim Madaus to the station's noon and 6 p.m. newscasts. The new weather anchor team line-up also includes the addition of weathercaster Dave Nemeth, who joins WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 Jan. 5, 1993, as weather anchor of Action News Weekend. The announcement was made by WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 News Director Walter Kraft.
 Kress joined WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 in 1977 as weather anchor for the 5 p.m. Action News. Prior to joining WXYZ-TV/Channel 7, Kress worked as a weathercaster for WJRT-TV in Flint and writer/weather anchor/producer for KFYR-TV in North Dakota.
 Madaus joined WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 in 1984 as weather anchor for Channel 7 Action News Weekend. With prior experience in radio and television, Madaus produced and delivered daily weather forecasts for WLLZ radio and WMJC radio both located in the city of Detroit. From 1975 to 1978, Madaus was weather anchor and promotion manager for WREX-TV in Rockford, Ill. Madaus was head of the weather department at WJRT-TV in Flint from 1980 to 1984 and held the same position at WMTV-TV in Madison, Wis., from 1978 to 1980.
 Nemeth joins WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 in early January 1993 as weekend weather anchor for Channel 7 Action News Weekend. Nemeth comes to WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 from KTVX-TV in Salt Lake City, where he anchored the station's 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. Nemeth also worked as a weather anchor for WFSB-TV in Hartford, Conn. While at WFSB-TV, Nemeth also produced weekly feature reports, special weather and science related stories and hosted numerous local programs produced by the station including the MDA Telethon.
 Previous to that Nemeth was weather/news host for the Weather Channel in Marieta, Ga., and news anchor for WGXA-TV in Macon, Ga.
 Nemeth is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Originally from Evansville, Ind., Nemeth is married and has two children. The family resides in Brighton, Mich.
 In addition to WXYZ-TV, Scripps Howard Broadcasting owns and operates television stations in Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Kansas City, Memphis, Phoenix, Tampa, Tulsa and West Palm Beach. It also operates radio stations in Baltimore, Memphis, Portland, Ore., and cable television systems in California, Colorado and Florida with 267,400 basic subscribers.
