WWJ NEWSRADIO 95 BECOMES OFFICIAL RADIO STATION
 FOR 1992 DETROIT GRAND PRIX
DETROIT, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- WWJ Newsradio 95 and Detroit Renaissance jointly announced today the signing of a one-year agreement allowing WWJ exclusive broadcast rights for the 11th Annual Detroit Grand Prix, June 5, 6 and 7, 1992, on its new site -- Belle Isle Park.
WWJ will broadcast two Grand Prix races: the Liquid Tide Trans-Am Motor City 100 on Saturday, June 6, and the PPG Indy Car World Series on Sunday, June 7. As the official radio station of the race, WWJ will provide complete event coverage including advance feature stories, shuttle service, parking information, and traffic updates every 10 minutes. A play-by-play announcer will be named in the near future.
"We are thrilled to be associated with one of the nation's premier sporting events. It's a great time to be associated with the Grand Prix and the staff of Detroit Renaissance on their inaugural run on Belle Isle Park," stated CBS Vice President and WWJ/WJOI General Manager Rod Zimmerman. "The Grand Prix will be a major event for WWJ to cover, but everyone in our sports department, as well as our technical staff, is excited to be taking on this challenge."
Robert McCabe, president of Detroit Grand Prix, said, "WWJ will be a terrific asset to this year's Grand Prix, and we are excited to have a full news/sports operation like WWJ covering the 11th annual race."
The Detroit Grand Prix fits perfectly with WWJ's lineup of live sports coverage. WWJ is Detroit's pre-eminent sports station, providing play-by-play coverage of more sports events than any other outlet in Michigan, including:
