Former WWE Cruiserweight champion (https://twitter.com/GottaGetSwann?lang=en) Rich Swann was suspended indefinitely following an arrest on battery and false imprisonment charges, the (http://www.wwe.com/article/rich-swann-suspended) WWE announced Sunday.
"WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Rich Swann has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest," the statement read.
Swann, 26, was arrested Saturday night in Gainesville, Florida. According to the (https://twitter.com/GainesvillePD/status/939852538026872839?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cbssports.com%2Fwwe%2Fnews%2Fwwe-suspends-rich-swann-following-arrest-for-domestic-battery-false-imprisonment%2F) Alachua County Sheriff's Office, Swann had argued with his wife, Vannarah Riggs, and was charged with battery and false imprisonment of an adult then released on bail. Swann and Riggs, who were married March, live in Orlando.
Riggs wrestles under the name Su Yung. She had a match earlier that day. According to the police report, Swann "critiqued" her performance and the two started to argue while driving.
A witness told police that Riggs exited the vehicle. After she refused to re-enter, Swann grabbed and pulled her back to the car using a headlock, according to the report.
Riggs "screamed for help as (Swann) put her back in the car," the report read. She told (http://www.prowrestlingsheet.com/rich-swann-arrested/#.Wi2D8LYrLq0) officers that "she was afraid of (Swann) because he has a temper sometimes." Swann married Riggs in March after a five-year relationship.
Florida law states that false imprisonment or kidnapping is a third-degree felony and is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. The batter charge is considered a first-degree misdemeanor, with a penalty of 12 months' probation and a $1,000 fine. Swann is expected to appear in court on Monday.
Swann was scheduled to face Drew Gulak in a match for the number one contender to the Cruiserweight Championship Monday night on WWE's "Raw." He defeated Tony Nese on last Tuesday's episode of "205 Live."
Swann first started training for professional wrestling at the age of 14. He officially signed with WWE on October 2015.
