West Virginia Bankers Association (WVBA) has named Sara McLaughlin Cline as its new executive vice president, who will also become the organisation's chief executive officer following the retirement of Joe Ellison next year.

Cline assumed her position on September 1, Journal News said online.

Cline, who has served as commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Financial Institutions since 2008, joins WVBA after a more than 30 year career as a regulator and banker.

Cline had been with the Division of Financial Institutions in 1984 before taking a position with The Huntington National Bank (NASDAQ: HBAN). She then returned to the Division in 1999 as deputy commissioner before becoming the Divisions' director of Depository Institutions in 2000. Cline served in that role until named as acting commissioner in 2008 and finally as commissioner in 2009.
