WRC-TV AND WTOP RADIO ANNOUNCE NEWS GATHERING PARTNERSHIP

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- WRC-TV and WTOP 1500 Radio have announced a unique news gathering partnership. The announcement was made today by WRC-TV President and General Manager, Allan Horlick and WTOP General Manger Tom McKinley.
"I've lived in the Washington community for many years and have tremendous respect for WTOP news radio. When it comes to news gathering and radio, WTOP is regarded as one of the premiere operations in the country," said Horlick. "All of us at WRC-TV couldn't be more delighted with this new partnership," added Horlick.
The partnership combines the resources of Washington's only all- news radio station with resources of WRC-TV. This venture will enable each news operation to bring the best news gathering of the other to its listeners and viewers.
Reports by NEWS4 reporters will be available for listeners to WTOP radio. Similarly, by way of a camera in their news room, WTOP radio reporters will be available to NEWS4 viewers.
"The real winner in this is the people of Washington," said McKinley, executive vice president and general manager of WTOP. "With two outstanding, award-winning news departments working together, the results will be improved news services for the community," added McKinley.
For the last two years NEWS4 has been named by the Associated Press as Best Television News Operation. WTOP, the radio station of record in the Washington market, is committed to giving listeners the top news instantly, 24 hours a day.
