WORLD TRADE CLUB SELECTS COMERICA'S MONAHAN 1994 WORLD TRADER OF THE YEAR

 DETROIT, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Trade Club of the Greater Detroit Chamber of Commerce has chosen Comerica Bank President Michael T. Monahan its 1994 World Trader of the Year.
 Chamber Chairman John E. Lobbia, in making the announcement, noted Monahan's distinguished service as a "visible and vocal advocate of world trade."
 "Mike Monahan has been a strong supporter of the export promotion efforts of the Chamber which helps small companies expand their markets through export sales around the world. He has served with distinction on the Export-Import Bank of the United States' (Eximbank) 12-member Advisory Committee for two consecutive terms. In addition, he has been a strong proponent of the Michigan Export Development Authority (MEDA) and the programs it offers to exporters and banks."
 In addition, Lobbia referenced Monahan's accomplishments at Comerica in the area of new international trade initiatives. "Mike Monahan has been instrumental in the development of a Global Banking division at Comerica Bank, including the integration of John V. Carr & Son, Inc., a full-service customs broker and freight forwarder located here in Detroit. Under his leadership, Comerica has become one of the top 10 trade finance banks to middle market companies in the United States."
 The World Trade Club is an organization of more than 500 Chamber member firms actively engaged in the promotion of international trade. The World Trade Club will present the award to Monahan at the Chamber's annual International Consular Ball scheduled for March 4 at the Ritz- Carlton in Dearborn.
