WORLD JEWISH CONGRESS AND STEVEN SPIELBERG REACH UNDERSTANDING REGARDING AUSCHWITZ FILMING

NEW YORK, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The World Jewish Congress and filmmaker Steven Spielberg have reached a complete understanding regarding the filming of scenes at Auschwitz for "Schindler's List."
After discussions over the past weeks, Kalman Sultanik, vice president of the WJC, and Spielberg met personally this week. They agreed that the three days of controlled filming at Auschwitz will be accomplished without entering the camp's grounds.
"We wish Mr. Spielberg and the film enormous success. It is a most important story to tell at this time in world history and we know the intent and integrity of the film and the filmmaker will achieve that objective," said Edgar M. Bronfman, president of the World Jewish Congress.
Spielberg added, "All of us involved in bringing Oskar Schindler's story to a worldwide audience are particularly pleased to have this support. We will do all that we can to confirm your confidence in our intentions and sensitivity."
Filming of "Schindler's List," to be directed by Spielberg for Universal Pictures, will begin in Krakow, Poland, in March.
