WORLD'S FIRST FLUORESCENT BILLBOARD TO BE UNVEILED JULY 1

 WHAT: Unveiling and demonstration of the world's first fluorescent billboard -- prepared for "Needful Things," a Castle Rock Entertainment release by Wildfire Inc. The board is further innovative in that it mainly uses earth tones (not the bright day-glo commonly associated with fluorescence). The overall three-dimensional effect is created by special Wildfire long throw billboard light fixtures that create one look during the day and another at night. In keeping with the film's campaign the fluorescent board depicts a shopping bag with the emerging face and hands of a victim who has fallen prey to a needful thing.

 NOTES: "Needful Things" opens in theaters nationwide on Wednesday, Aug. 11. The film is based on master storyteller Stephen King's best selling novel of the same name. The billboard will be erected on July 6 at the intersection of Westwood and Santa Monica boulevards in West Los Angeles.
 "Needful Things," starring Ed Harris, Max von Sydow, Bonnie Bedelia, J.T. Walsh and Amanda Plummer, is the story of a beautiful New England village which unravels in a rash of violence when a seemingly benign stranger opens a curious antique shop, the contents of which have the power to unleash the evil that lies just beneath the friendly veneer of the peaceful townsfolk. The film represents the feature film directorial debut of Fraser C. Heston. Executive produced by Peter Yates, the film is produced by Jack Cummins and written by W.D. Richter.
