WORK RECOVERY INC. ANNOUNCES PUBLICATION OF INDEPENDENT ERGOS(TM) RESEARCH

TUCSON, Ariz., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Work Recovery Inc. (NASDAQ: WORK), a Tucson-based provider of advanced rehabilitation technology and a national network of testing clinics serving employers, physicians and industrially injured workers, today announced that the Journal of Occupational Medicine has published, in its August 1993 edition, an article entitled "Concurrent Validity of the ERGOS Work Simulator Versus Conventional Functional Capacity Evaluation Techniques in a Workers' Compensation Population." The ERGOS(TM) Work Simulator is a proprietary product of Work Recovery Inc.
The article sets forth the results of an independent study conducted by the Workers' Compensation Board, Functional Evaluation Centre, of Richmond, British Columbia, which shows that the "overall physical activity rating for endurance of a full workday produced by the four- hour ERGOS evaluation and by the (traditional) two-week functional capacity evaluation ..." were equal. Authors of the journal article were Laureen A. Dusik, M.Sc., M.D.; Michael R. Menard, M.D., Ph.D.; Christopher Cooke, M.P.E., Ed.D.; Susan M. Fairburn, B.Sc.; and Gregg N. Beach, B.P.E.
Thomas L. Brandon, president of Work Recovery Inc., stated that "The results of the study clearly point to the potential cost savings of doing an ERGOS evaluation in four hours vs. two weeks. The ERGOS and Work Recovery Inc.'s national network of clinics can provide significant savings through employers' and insurance companies' managed care programs."
