WOODS, MADSEN ADDED TO LARGO'S 'THE GETAWAY'
LOS ANGELES, March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- James Woods and Michael Madsen have been cast in Largo Entertainment's "The Getaway," which will begin principal photography in Phoenix, on April 5, announced Lloyd Levin, president of production. The film stars Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger in the remake of the 1972 release which featured Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw in the lead roles. Directing "The Getaway" is Roger Donaldson while David Foster, Lawrence Turman and John Alan Simon are producing. Woods, who starred in last year's critically acclaimed "Citizen Cohn" for HBO and received an Academy Award nomination for "Salvador," will portray a morally corrupt power broker. The steamy action thriller tells the story of a master crook and his wife, played by Baldwin and Basinger, who combine their efforts to pull off one last heist. Along the way, they encounter a twisted trail of double crosses, deceptions and dangerous partnerships. The screenplay, adapted from the novel by Jim Thompson, was written by Walter Hill and Amy Jones. The original film was also written by Hill and directed by Sam Peckinpah. David Foster (with Mitchell Brower) co-produced the original.
