WOODLAND WORK FOR APPRENTICES.

FIFTEEN apprentices at a Birmingham chocolate maker swapped the office for a country park with the aim of increasing biodiversity. The staff from Bournville-based Mondelez International, which makes Cadbury's chocolate, spent a day helping park rangers at Lickey Hills to transform their woodland into a heathland habitat for National Apprentice Week.

Alexander Fleming, engineering apprentice at Mondelez International, said: "Volunteers from Mondelez International help out in the local community as much as possible so it was great to get involved with the side of the business that we don't always get to see."

Apprentices at Mondelez International are also competing in the Brathay Apprentice Challenge; the official search for the apprentice team of the year supported by the National Apprenticeship Service.

Andrew Peckston, manufacturing development manager and apprenticeship programme leader, said: "Our apprentices have a huge impact on our business, working on and developing some of Britain's most iconic brands."
