WOLVERINE WORLD WIDE NAMED EXCLUSIVE GLOBAL LICENSEE FOR CATERPILLAR BRAND FOOTWEAR

 ROCKFORD, Mich., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) and Wolverine World Wide, Inc. (NYSE: WWW) today announced a licensing agreement for the global marketing of footwear bearing the Caterpillar trademarks. Responsibility for the Caterpillar brand footwear will be licensed to the Wolverine Work and Outdoor Footwear Group that markets Wolverine(R) brand work boots and shoes, Wolverine Wilderness(R) rugged outdoor footwear and Coleman(R) outdoor footgear in the U.S. and internationally.
 The five-year agreement becomes effective Jan. 1, 1994. A transition plan has been developed to assure that the needs of current Caterpillar footwear customers are met. Caterpillar brand footwear was introduced in 1989 and currently is distributed in the U.S. and numerous countries worldwide.

 Caterpillar is the world's leading manufacturer of construction and earth-moving equipment, and a leading supplier of diesel and natural gas engines.
 Pointing out that protecting the integrity of the Caterpillar brand image was a critical factor in selecting a licensee, Bruce Wiegand, Caterpillar Inc.
