 FOR THIRD QUARTER
 SAGINAW, Mich., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- James L. Wolohan, president and chief executive officer of Wolohan Lumber Co. (NASDAQ-NMS: WLHN), reported that third-quarter earnings increased 15 percent to $3,866,000, 54 cents per share, from $3,373,000, 48 cents per share, for the same period of 1991.
 Sales increased 9 percent to a record $99,343,000 from $90,759,000 in the third quarter of 1991. The increased sales resulted from a 10-percent increase in consumer (DIY) sales and an 8-percent increase in professional contractor sales. Sales at comparable stores (stores in operation prior to July 1, 1991) increased 7 percent.
 Net income for the first nine months of 1992 increased 14 percent to $8,613,000, $1.21 per share, from $7,564,000, $1.06 per share, in 1991. Sales for the nine-month period ended Sept. 30, 1992, increased 13 percent to $264,777,000 from $233,795,000 for the same period of 1991, and comparable store sales were up 11 percent.
 Wolohan Lumber Co. is a publicly held company operating 52 lumber and building material retail stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin.
