WNBC-TV AND ALAMO RENT A CAR PRESENT 'NOW YOU SEE IT OR DO YOU?'
WNBC-TV AND ALAMO RENT A CAR PRESENT 'NOW YOU SEE IT OR DO YOU?' NEW YORK, April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- On Sunday, April 26, at 8:30 a.m., Channel 4 (WNBC-TV) will try to "fool the eye" of viewers who tune in to see "Now You See It or Do You?," a special WNBC-TV production sponsored by Alamo Rent A Car. The program's co-hosts -- WNBC-TV's Al Roker, Philippe de Montebello, director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Michael S. Egan, chairman of Alamo Rent A Car -- will take viewers on a guided tour of the "William M. Harnett" exhibition currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Both the WNBC-TV production and the exhibition are sponsored by Alamo Rent A Car. Harnett, an Irish immigrant, became a leader of the late 19th- century American school of trompe-l'oeil painting -- quite literally painting that "fooled the eye" into believing that objects were real instead of paint on canvas. During the program, guest appearances will be made by the "Cosby" show's Phylicia Rashad; Enid Nemy, columnist and reporter for the New York Times; Kitty Carlisle Hart, New York State chairman of the Council on the Arts; Peter Duchin, New York State vice-chairman of the Council on the Arts and Milton Glaser, graphic designer and creator of the "I Love New York" logo. The program's producer and director is Enid Roth. Although a relatively young company founded just 17 years ago, Alamo has been notably ambitious in its efforts to support the nation's rich cultural heritage in art, film, theatre, classical music and dance. The "William M. Harnett" exhibit can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art through June 14, 1992. -0- 4/23/92 /CONTACT: Sheree Wichard of Gavin Anderson & Co., 212-921-1060, ext. 284, for Alamo Rent A Car/ CO: Alamo Rent A Car ST: New York IN: ENT SU:
