WMMR TEAMS UP WITH BELL OF PENNSYLVANIA TO RECYCLE PHONE BOOKS
PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- WMMR's environmental series, "Rescue the Future," is teaming up with Bell of Pennsylvania to recycle old telephone books.
The WMMR vans will collect the phone books in sections of Philadelphia Saturday, Aug. 29. In addition, Bell of Pennsylvania is including a list of some 200 drop-off locations in a flyer tucked into the new 1992-1993 Philadelphia White Pages.
WMMR news director Mark Drucker said recycled phone books stay out of landfills, and save water, trees and energy. In fact, it takes 60 percent less energy to manufacture paper from recycled stock than from virgin materials. The new phone directories will be delivered through Sept. 9. WMMR will help publicize the recycling drop-off points through then.
