WITCO REALIGNS SENIOR MANAGEMENT; CREATES OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN
NEW YORK, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Witco Corporation's (NYSE: WIT) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, William R. Toller, announced today that he was realigning the senior management structure of the company and establishing an office of the chairman to guide the company forward. In addition to the chairman himself, the office would comprise the company's three other newly established senior positions.
Reporting to Toller will be Denis Andreuzzi, who was named vice chairman and chief operating officer - Petroleum; William E. Mahoney, who was appointed vice chairman and chief operating officer - Chemicals; and Michael D. Fullwood, who was named executive vice president and chief financial officer. These appointments are effective Oct. 1.
Andreuzzi and Mahoney also serve on Witco's board of directors. Mr. Andreuzzi, 61, has served Witco for 36 years, and Mr. Mahoney, 60, has 29 years of service. Mr. Fullwood, 45, joined the company in 1987.
In his announcement Mr. Toller said, "Creating this office of the chairman with the related shifts in responsibility will strengthen our senior management structure and give it clear direction. It will help us continue the process of corporate restructuring to best position Witco in the markets it serves over the long-term. This process is ongoing and evolutionary. We'll continue to move deliberately and with purpose to accomplish our goals."
This fall Witco expects to complete its recently announced acquisition of two divisions of Schering AG, the Industrial Chemicals and Natural Substances divisions. This acquisition, the largest in the company's history, is expected to increase the company's annual sales to approximately $2.2 billion from $1.6 billion. The office of the chairman will be charged with the successful integration of the acquisition into Witco's worldwide operations as well as continuing to refine Witco's domestic and international business focus.
