WITCO NAMES URBAN MANAGING DIRECTOR OF EUROPEAN SURFACTANTS BUSINESS

 NEW YORK, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Georg Urban has joined Witco Corporation (NYSE: WIT) as managing director of its Surfactants/Europe strategic business unit and managing director of both REWO Chemische Werke GmbH and Witco GmbH. He is responsible for the company's expansive surfactants business in Europe. Mr. Urban will be located at Witco GmbH headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, and oversees surfactants operations at Steinau, Germany; Flimby, U.K.; Elbeuf, France; and Barcelona, Spain.
 Mr. Urban has more than 20 years experience in the chemical industry, including 10 years spent at REWO in various capacities, including general manager of the Steinau, Germany, operations. Most recently, Mr. Urban was group executive, Europe of Pfaudler-Werke GmbH, responsible for business in Europe, India, the Middle East, and Africa. He is a graduate of HTL in Vienna, Austria, with a degree in chemical engineering. He has also completed a course in AMP at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
