WISCONSIN GAS TO SELL NEW NOTES

 MILWAUKEE, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Wisconsin Gas Company filed a shelf registration statement Aug. 10, with the Securities and Exchange Commission to issue $45 million in new long-term notes. The maturity, interest rate and other terms will be determined at the time of sale.
 The managing underwriters for the new issue are Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. and Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated.
 Wisconsin Gas Company, a subsidiary of WICOR, Inc. (NYSE: WIC) is the state's oldest and largest natural gas distributor, serving more than 471,000 customers in nearly 450 communities.
 A registration statement relating to these securities has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission but has not yet become effective. These securities may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted prior to the time the registration statement becomes effective.
