WINTER CLOTHES OUT TO BENEFIT WOMEN'S CENTER & SHELTER

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Third Annual Winter Clothes Out will be held at the Westin William Penn Hotel on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to support the Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh (WC&S) through the WC&S Legal Advocacy Department.
In Pennsylvania, every three days a woman or child is killed as a result of domestic violence. One-third of the homeless population is made up of the surviving women and children, as they are forced to leave almost all of their possessions behind. The WC&S is a place where they can turn. WC&S provides food, clothing, shelter, counseling, advocacy and public education to victims of domestic violence.
In an effort to assist the efforts of these women in re-entering the workforce, obtaining an education and bettering their lives, the law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart is again sponsoring the Winter Clothes Out. Nearly 2,500 professional men and women, from the downtown Pittsburgh area, have been invited to the Winter Clothes Out.
Tickets are $40, or $30 if accompanied by a gently worn suit or professional clothing. The clothing collected will be made available to women using the services of the WC&S and who are in need of business interviews or work clothes. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the WC&S's legal advocacy efforts. A cash bar and hors d'oeuvres will be available. Door prizes and raffle prizes will be awarded. For reservations, call Sandy Barnett at 412-687-8017.
