 WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES RETURNS TO PROFITABILITY
FOREST CITY, Iowa, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Winnebago Industries,

Inc. (NYSE: WGO), today reported a profit of $2,220,000 or 9 cents a share on revenues of $88,883,000 for the third quarter ended May 30, 1992. This compared to a loss of $2,247,000 or 9 cents a share on revenues of $70,151,000 for the same quarter in fiscal 1991. Included in the foregoing figures is a net loss from discontinued operations of $610,000, or 2 cents a share, for the third quarter of fiscal 1992, versus a loss of $951,000, or 4 cents a share, for the same quarter a year ago.
For the first nine months of fiscal 1992, revenues totaled $209,045,000 vs. revenues of $150,153,000 for the same period one year ago. The company had a net loss for the first nine months of $3,752,000, equal to 15 cents a share, compared to a net loss of $19,155,000, or 77 cents a share, for the same period in fiscal 1991. Included in the foregoing figures is a net loss from discontinued operations of $610,000, or 2 cents a share, for the first nine months of fiscal 1992, compared to a loss of $4,200,000, or 17 cents a share, for the same period a year ago.
Commenting on the results, Winnebago Industries President and Chief Operating Officer Fred Dohrmann said, "We have attained profitability with a 27 percent increase in recreation vehicle sales in the third quarter of 1992 vs. the same period last year. This growth is due to a number of factors, including the introduction of an excellent 1992 product line with totally new or redesigned motor homes and improvement in the nation's economic outlook.
"Two-thirds of our 1992 motor home models were either new or featured new floorplans," Dohrmann continued. "These new products were very well received by both dealers and the retail customers. Further product expansion is planned in our new 1993 product line which will begin entering the market later this summer."
Dohrmann concluded, "Recreation vehicle sales industry-wide have markedly improved over those of last year. Assuming there is continued recovery in the overall economy, we are cautiously optimistic about further market growth for the remainder of fiscal 1992 and in fiscal 1993."
Revenues for the company's Cycle Sat subsidiary have also shown improvement in the third quarter vs. the third quarter of fiscal 1991.
Cycle Sat President Loren Swenson advised, "This increase in revenues is due to the addition of television stations serviced by the Cycle Sat network, especially those in major market areas; and an increased customer base utilizing the Cycle Sat network."
