WINNEBAGO INDUSTRIES REPORTS ON SALES OF MOTOR HOMES

FOREST CITY, Iowa, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Sales orders for Winnebago(R), Itasca(R), Elante(R) and Vectra(TM) brand motor homes by Winnebago Industries (NYSE: WGO) have increased by 49 percent since the beginning of the company's third fiscal quarter March 1, 1993, versus the same period a year ago, the company reported today. In addition, retail demand for the company's motor homes has shown an increase of 21 percent since the beginning of the third quarter compared to the same period a year ago. According to Statistical Surveys, Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich., a motor home registration firm, Winnebago Industries' motor home market share has also risen with an increase of nearly 20 percent for the first two months of calendar year 1993 compared to the same period of 1992.
Due to the increased motor home sales activity in recent weeks, Winnebago Industries, Inc., announced today that motor home production has scheduled three weeks of nine-hour days beginning May 3, 1993. In addition, Shipout department personnel are currently working 11-hour days and Saturdays to process the increase of sold units through the system.
Winnebago Industries President and Chief Operating Officer Fred G. Dohrmann said, "We attribute these increases to the excellent reception by retail customers and our dealers of our new 1993 motor home products. Some of these products include our new bus-style Vectra motor home and the new low-cost Winnebago Warrior(R) and Itasca Passage(TM) motor homes introduced with a suggested list base price of only $27,995."
Dohrmann continued, "We have also had continued recognition by dealers and retail customers of the high-quality standards achieved through our `Team Winnebago' employee efforts within the corporation."
