WILLIAM U. PARFET ELECTED DIRECTOR OF STRYKER CORPORATION

 KALAMAZOO, Mich., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- John W. Brown, chairman of Stryker Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: STRY), announced that the shareholders elected William U. Parfet a director of the corporation at today's annual meeting.
 Parfet is vice chairman of the board for The Upjohn Company, a manufacturer of pharmaceutical, chemical and agricultural products, which is headquartered in Kalamazoo. He is also a director of The Upjohn Company, CMS Energy Corporation, Old Kent Financial Corporation and Universal Foods Corporation.
 Parfet is a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo who brings to Stryker 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical, chemical and agricultural products.
 Stryker Corporation develops, manufactures and markets specialty surgical and medical products, including orthopaedic implants, endoscopic systems, powered surgical instruments and patient handling equipment for the global market. Its shares are traded in the over-the- counter market on the NASDAQ National Market System under the symbol STRY.
