 SENIOR BANKING EXECUTIVE OF NATIONSBANK, SOUTH HAMPTON ROADS
 NORFOLK, Va., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- NationsBank (NYSE: NB) executive Albert B. Gornto Jr. announced today that William L. Rueger will become senior banking executive in South Hampton Roads when Gornto retires on June 30.
 Rueger will continue as commercial regional executive officer, the area's senior commercial position. Additionally, he will be regional coordinator for all NationsBank business in South Hampton Roads, including community relations, Gornto said.
 Gornto, 62, is chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Group of Banks for NationsBank. Referring to his 35-year banking career as "rewarding and satisfying," Gornto added, "It is time for the team we've prepared to assume the leadership role in this important region. NationsBank, under Bill Rueger's innovative and energetic leadership, will maintain its role as a leading corporate citizen."
 Rueger began his career in Norfolk 27 years ago with a NationsBank predecessor. He has held management posts in the consumer, real estate finance and commercial areas. He assumed responsibility for commercial accounts in South Hampton Roads in January 1990.
 A graduate of Virginia Beach High School, Randolph-Macon College and the Stonier Graduate School of Bank Management, Rueger has been active in civic and community affairs. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and as vice-chairman for membership development. He is a member of the Development Committee of the Eastern Virginia Medical School Campaign and is former chairman of its Endowment Committee. A trustee of the Virginia Stage Company, Reuger is also an associate for the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges.
 "Buck Gornto has made his name synonymous with banking in his hometown and a wide area of the country," said Hugh McColl, president and chief executive officer of NationsBank. "He has built a distinguished career. His presence will be missed, but we wish him much happiness in his retirement."
 A respected community leader, Gornto has held top positions in numerous organizations. Currently, his activities include corporate chairman of the Black Achievers Program, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Business Consortium for Arts Support, member of the Board of Trustees for the Chrysler Museum and the Board of Directors for Forward Hampton Roads and Greater Norfolk Corporation.
 Gornto serves on the Board of Visitors for his alma mater, Old Dominion University, and on the Board of Directors and Trustees for Sentara Health Systems and Sentara Hospitals.
