WILLIAM EASON TO BECOME SCIENTIFIC-ATLANTA'S GENERAL COUNSEL

 ATLANTA, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Scientific Atlanta, Inc. (NYSE: SFA) today announced the appointment of William E. Eason Jr. as corporate secretary effective immediately.
 Eason will also become senior vice president and general counsel effective Feb. 1, 1994. Eason had been chair of the business law department of the Atlanta office of the national law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker and has been providing outside legal counsel to Scientific Atlanta for 25 years.
 Eason has served as counsel in securities offerings and mergers and acquisitions of numerous companies in many parts of the United States and abroad. He recently served as chair of the Corporate and Banking Laws Section of the State Bar of Georgia and has worked with various governmental entities in finance and public projects in Georgia, including the Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport and Underground Atlanta. He also drafted the legislation creating the Metropolitan Atlanta Olympic Games Authority. Eason will continue his affiliation with Paul, Hastings and his representation of the Olympics Authority.

 Eason received his A.B. degree in 1965 from Duke University and his J.D. degree in 1968 from Duke University Law School where he was research editor of the Duke Law Review.
