 WILLIAM BERNSTEIN APPOINTED EXECUTIVE
 VICE PRESIDENT OF PARAMOUNT PICTURES
 HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- William Bernstein has been appointed executive vice president of Paramount Pictures effective March 2, it was announced today by Paramount Chairman Brandon Tartikoff.
 In his new position, Bernstein will report directly to Tartikoff and will supervise Paramount's business affairs, legal, finance and studio administration departments. Also reporting to Bernstein will be Paramount's music publishing and motion picture theater operations.
 Bernstein comes to Paramount after serving as president and chief executive officer of Orion Pictures Corp. since April 1991.
 "Bill Bernstein's business acumen, his deal-making and administrative skills, his wide range of relationships, and the depth of his experience in the industry both here and abroad will be great assets to Paramount," Tartikoff said.
 "His appointment represents a key component of the new Paramount team. With Barry London in an expanded marketing and distribution role, John Goldwyn supervising production, Kerry McCluggage overseeing television, and Bill Bernstein in charge of business and administration, Paramount has the leadership to meet the challenges of the 1990s."

 Before becoming president and chief executive officer of Orion Pictures, Bernstein served as executive vice president and a member of its board of directors since 1978.
 Prior to his association with Orion, Bernstein was senior vice president for business affairs of United Artists Corp. and a member of its board of directors. He joined United Artists as a member of its legal department in 1959, and served in various legal and business affairs capacities before joining Orion Pictures.
 Bernstein is a graduate of Yale Law School and New York University.
