WILLETT RESIGNS AS CEO, PRESIDENT OF NEW HAMPTON, INC. NEW YORK, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- William H. Willett has resigned as
chief executive officer and president of New Hampton, Inc., a $300 million clothing catalogue sales company. He will continue as a member of the board.
Willett said he left as a result of a policy dispute. New Hampton has three catalogues -- Avon Fashions, moderately priced women's clothing; Bright's Creek, infants' and children's clothing; and James River Traders, up-scale clothing for men and women. Willett started the business as a division of Avon Products, Inc. in 1973 and headed the management-led LBO in 1987. He had been replaced as chairman earlier this year by Ray Rudy, following a reorganization. A search is underway for Willett's successor. New Hampton is a privately held company. Investors include Desai Capital Management, Travelers Insurance Company, J.P.
