 ASHLAND, Ky., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- G. Thomas Wilkinson has been elected senior vice president of Ashland Oil, Inc. (NYSE: ASH) by the company's board of directors, according to John R. Hall, chairman and chief executive officer.
 Along with his duties as senior vice president, Wilkinson is president of Ashland Exploration, a subsidiary of Ashland Oil. He reports to James R. Boyd, senior vice president and group operating officer of Ashland Oil, Inc.
 Wilkinson, 54, began his career with Ashland Exploration in 1988 as senior vice president of the subsidiary. In January 1990, he was named executive vice president and, in August 1990, he was named president of Ashland Exploration and a vice president of Ashland Oil. Before his employment with Ashland Exploration, he held various positions with AMOCO, ARCO and was president of Seagull Energy E&P Inc.
 A native of St. Louis, Mo., Wilkinson holds a bachelor's degree in geophysical engineering from St. Louis University.
 With its headquarters in Houston, Ashland Exploration is engaged in exploration for and production of crude oil and natural gas in the United States and overseas. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ashland Oil, Inc., Ashland, Ky. In addition to oil and gas exploration and production, Ashland Oil is engaged in petroleum refining, transportation and wholesale marketing; retail gasoline marketing; motor oil marketing; chemicals; coal; and highway construction.
