 WICOR ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT PROMOTIONS
MILWAUKEE, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of WICOR,

Inc. (NYSE: WIC) voted today (Tuesday, July 28) to name Stuart W. Tisdale chairman and chief executive officer of the company. Tisdale, 63, has been president and chief executive officer of WICOR, the parent of Wisconsin Gas Company and Sta-Rite Industries, since 1986.
The board also approved other executive appointments for WICOR and its subsidiaries. All appointments are effective July 28.
George E. Wardeberg, 57, becomes president and chief operating officer of WICOR and vice chairman and chief executive officer of Sta-Rite. He was also elected to the WICOR board of directors.
Wardeberg joined Sta-Rite in 1989 as vice president and general manager of the water systems group. He spent 32 years at the Whirlpool Corporation, starting in 1957 and working steadily through the operating ranks, eventually becoming vice chairman and chief operating officer of the multi-billion-dollar corporation.
"George Wardeberg has an outstanding record of national and international operating experience, coming from one of the most dominant appliance manufacturers in the world. His leadership and experience are tremendous assets to WICOR," Tisdale said.
In other board actions, two WICOR vice presidents will exchange positions: James C. Donnelly, 46, becomes president and chief operating officer of Sta-Rite Industries; and Joseph P. Wenzler, 50, becomes vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer of both WICOR and Wisconsin Gas Company.
Donnelly has been vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer of WICOR and Wisconsin Gas since 1990. He joined Wisconsin Gas in 1987 from Eastern Enterprises, a Boston utility holding company, where he held a similar position.
Wenzler joined Sta-Rite in 1974, and was vice president of finance, secretary and treasurer before becoming president in 1986. Before joining Sta-Rite, he spent 10 years in public accounting at Arthur Andersen & Co.
Thomas F. Schrader, 42, continues as vice president of WICOR and president and chief executive officer of Wisconsin Gas Company.
WICOR is a Milwaukee-based holding company. Its primary subsidiaries are Wisconsin Gas Company, the state's largest distributor of natural gas; and Sta-Rite Industries, Inc., a leading manufacturer of pumps and water processing equipment for markets throughout the world.
