WHO KNOWS WHO' S IN CHARGE OF A483 MESS?

A ROW has broken out over who should clean up a dual carriageway branded "a disgrace" by a leading councillor.

Wrexham chiefs claim it's the North East Wales Trunk Road Agency's responsibility to clean up the A483, but Welsh Government bosses say it's up to the local authority.

Writing in the local Essentials magazine, Hugh Jones, Wrexham council's lead member for partnerships, public protection and community safety, said: "The current state of the A483 roadside is a disgrace."

But a Welsh Government spokesman hit back, saying: "The collection of litter on this length of the trunk road was withdrawn by Wrexham County Borough Council towards the end of last year. This is therefore a matter the councillor can raise within his authority."

David A Blithell, Wrexham's lead member for environment and transport, said: "The road is the responsibility of the Welsh Government."
