WHITNEY HOUSTON CAPTURES 4 GRAMMY NOMINATIONS; ARETHA FRANKLIN, KENNY G, TONI BRAXTON, ALAN JACKSON AND BROOKS & DUNN AMONGST ARISTA NOMINEES

 NEW YORK, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Whitney Houston and "The Bodyguard" Original Soundtrack album made a big splash during the nominations for the 36th annual Grammy Awards announced today. Houston's unparalleled rise during 1993 was fueled by the record-breaking success of "The Bodyguard" Original Sound Album which has sold over 25 million copies worldwide and features five hit singles, including "I Will Always Love You," the longest running No. 1 single of all time.
 Earlier this year, Houston garnered 11 awards at the Billboard Music Awards, more than any artist, and was also named "Entertainer Of The Year" by the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). Houston has previously won Grammys in 1985 and 1987 for Best Female Pop Performance.
 Arista's legendary Aretha Franklin will be honored with a Lifetime Grammy Achievement Award in addition to being nominated for Best Female R&B Vocalist.
 Toni Braxton, the "First Lady of LaFace, " was nominated for "Best New Artist" and "Best R&B Female Vocalist." Braxton's debut album boasts two No. 1 Gold singles, "Another Sad Love Song" and "Breathe Again," and has been certified Double Platinum, selling well over two million copies since its July release. She is currently completing a nationwide tour.
 Award winning saxophonist Kenny G was nominated for two awards: "Best Instrumental Composition" and "Best Pop Instrumental Performance." Kenny G's "Breathless" album has sold over five million copies in the U.S. alone and he is the best selling instrumentalist of all time.
 Arista Nashville artists also scored big in the nominations. Alan Jackson, the multi-platinum entertainer, was nominated for "Best Song" and "Best Male Country Vocalist." Brooks & Dunn, the incredibly popular duo, who have gone Double Platinum on their current release, "Hard Workin' Man," were nominated for "Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group." Diamond Rio, whose current album, "Close To The Edge" has surpassed Gold, were also nominated for "Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group."
