WHITE HOUSE ASSISTANT FRED MCCLURE TO JOIN FIRST SOUTHWEST
DALLAS, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- White House Assistant Frederick D. McClure has been named a director and member of the management committee of First Southwest Company. The announcement was made by Tom Luce, chairman and chief executive officer of First Southwest Company who said that McClure will join the firm in Dallas Feb. 1, 1992.
McClure, 37, had served as assistant to the president for legislative affairs since the beginning of President Bush's term in 1989. McClure's resignation is effective Feb. 1, 1992.
"We are thrilled to have Fred McClure returning to Texas and joining First Southwest Company," Luce said. "Fred is one of our country's best and brightest and will be a tremendous addition to our team."
First Southwest is the premier public finance advisor in the Southwest with a blue chip client list of government agencies that ranks it among the nation's largest financial advisors.
"I am excited about this challenging opportunity to join the management at First Southwest Investment Company. Although I have thoroughly enjoyed my service to the president, my family and I are eagerly anticipating our return home to Texas," said McClure.
In addition to being President Bush's chief lobbyist, McClure is a former aide to the late Sen. John Tower. He served in both the Ford and Reagan administrations and was the Washington lobbyist for Texas Air Corp. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he was student body president, and Baylor University School of Law where he received his law degree with high honors. Earlier this year, he was recognized as a distinguished alumnus of both institutions.
First Southwest Company, founded in 1946, as a fully diversified investment banking firm, provides services in the areas of public finance, corporate finance, underwriting and trading of debt and equity securities, institutional sales and other related investment banking activities. Earlier this fall, an investment group including Luce, Bob Utley and Hill Feinberg purchased controlling interest in the firm.
