IT'S ONE of the best days out of the year, but if you're at a loose end on St Patrick's night we have the ultimate guide to drowning that shamrock.

While your local pub is where many of you will end up, Sunday People has pulled out the stops to find a few alternatives this March 17.

There will be parades up and down the country, with Dublin again attracting tens of thousands of revellers and visitors.

But whatever parade you go to, consider some of the following venues for both daytime and late night fun, music and craic.

We've picked some of the best venues from Cork to Donegal and from Dublin to Galway.

All are Guaranteed Irish - where a 100 per cent great night out is guaranteed.

But be sensible wherever you end up on Wednesday evening.

Put simply, don't drink and drive. Get a taxi, a bus or hitch a lift with someone who isn't drowning a shamrock.

Enjoy yourselves!!!
