ALDIN GRANGE LAKES A Meadows landed 15 trout and J Howe caught 17. B Lawless caught 12, with these anglers catching on Buzzers and Hare's Ear. Some spectacular hatches have come off this week, with Mayflies, Sedges, Buzzers, Midge, Hare's Ear, Muddlers and Sedgehogs all producing some savage takes. Rod average was 5. CHATTON TROUT FISHERY 01668 215226 / NE66 5RF Fish of the week was a 10lb rainbow caught by Chris Barnes from Blyth on a Yellow Muddler. Among the big catches was Scott Wearmouth from Alnwick catching 19 over two visits on Diawl Bach and Buzzers. Matty Divine from Hadston caught 36 trout over two visits on dries, buzzers and bloodworm. He also returned a cracking 8lb 8oz brown trout. Trevor Wadds from Craster landed 14, while Jimmy Drew from Wallsend caught 10 for his visit. Top flies were small lures, buzzers, bloodworm and various nymphs.

HIGHAM LAKES 01661 860032 / NE20 0DH Anglers did well with dries this week; Mayflies, Hawthorns, and Black Spider were the top patterns. Plenty of big fish were caught; the largest one of 17lb caught by David McKenna from Durham on a Black Minkie. Paul Bell from Fenham released doubles of 11lb 3oz and 15lb 7oz, both caught on a Black Damsel.

KNITSLEY MILL 07960 747417 / DH8 9EL Sport continues to be good. Winner of the monthly competition was Connor Metcalf with 7lb 4oz with Andrew Patterson second with 6lb 8oz. On his last cast he landed a fish of 15lb 4oz. Anglers fishing the competition averaged five fish a rod. Top flies have been Damsels, Zonkers, Shuttlecocks and various dries including May-flies. Tagged fish is now worth PS240 and next monthly competition is on July 4. LOCKWOOD BECK 96 rods landed 473 rainbows and three brown trout to 8lb. From the 4 bank Shan Thomas landed 17 on Buzzers, while Ben Race caught 14 to 3lb 8oz. Dave Walker caught 12 to 8lb on a small Cats Whisker and Red Flexi Worm. From the boats John McGarrell caught 28 to 5lb mostly to dries and Beetle patterns. Steve Trafford caught 28 to 4lb on Buzzers Black Dries and Cats Whisker. Many others landed double-figure catches.

NAWORTH FISHERY 07831 862863 / CA8 2QS Anglers had some fine sport this week with J Wardrope landing the fish of the week, a cracking over-wintered rainbow of 22lb caught on a Red Fritz. M Proudfoot caught 16 trout to 14lb N Foster had 14 to 14lb and R Noble 12 to 4lb. D Cruikshank caught 13 to 9lb while J Gibson landed 18 to 3lb 8oz. Buzzers were the top patterns with black the number one catcher. SOUTH LINDEN FISHERY 01670 788366 / NE65 8TB Anglers landed more than 10 double-figure rainbows. T Davison from Newcastle caught eight and 15 trout on Beamish Killer and various dries. J Barnes from Guidepost landed 10, while G Maddison from Bedlington landed three doubles over 12lb on Dancers. Billy Daugherty from Ashington caught his first ever double-figure trout at 11lb.

SWEETHOPE LOUGHS 01830 540349 / NE19 2PN John Williams fished from the bank and caught 14 rainbows and a brown trout to Muddler in high winds. Regular James Carr had a productive session while Grant Downie took a 4lb blue trout. Mitch Fawcus from Blyth landed 30 rainbow trout and five blue trout on the Lower Lough. Anglers averaged 3.3 trout per visit. Lures did well as did the more imitative patterns.

THRUNTON LONG CRAG FISHERY 01665 574400; 07795 002607 Lots of anglers did really well again this week - among the catches was Hadston's Matty Divine with a haul of 16 trout, including a 5lb brown trout caught on Bloodworm and Damsels. D Halliday and D Robertson from Swalwell both caught 16 trout on Diawl Bach. Mick Brown and Chris Guthrie from Cramlington both landed 15 trout each on small black dries. Jim Burtle from Newcastle caught 11 trout, keeping four for 20lb 8oz, including one of 11lb 7oz. Ross Robson and Michael Gray from Consett both landed 11 trout each on Cats Whisker, CdCs and Blobs.

WASHBURN VALLEY FISHERY 01943 880658 Anglers fishing at Fewston Reservoir averaged 4.3 trout per visit while rods at Swinsty were few but averaged a massive 16 fish per visit. Top rainbow caught was a 6lber by John Cross caught on a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear. Mayfly hatches are increasing but Hawthorn falls and Buzzer hatches have kept fish feeding.

WITTON CASTLE LAKES 01388 748818 / DL7 0RR Anglers averaged 3.2 trout per visit, with top rod Darren Grabham landing 15 trout. Top trout caught was one of 8lb 8oz by J W Gargett. B McEwan landed one of 7lb and another good one of 5lb. Hare's Ear and Diawl Bach flies did well but by far the best pattern was the CdCs.
