WHEN IS IT TIME TO GET TILING?

We are tiling our bathroom from floor to ceiling and putting in a new suite etc.

We are back to bare brick apart from the wooden batons the UPVC tongueand-groove was fixed to. Do I need to get the walls replastered before I tile or would it be secure enough to fix plasterboard to the existing batons and tile direct on to the boards? Both would work as long as the battens are solid, as tiles and plasterboard will be a lot heavier than plastic panels. I usually give the wall a coat of PCA then dotdab plasterboard on to the brick ensuring an even and flush finish.
