WHEELING-PITTSBURGH STEEL APPOINTS TWO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENTS

 WHEELING, W.Va., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. (NYSE: WHX) today announced the appointment of two executive vice presidents. The steelmaker expects the appointments to further strengthen its operations in addition to enhancing its customer relations.
 James Hesse has been named executive vice president-commercial and chief operating officer. DeWayne Tuthill will serve as executive vice president-manufacturing.
 Prior to his appointment, Hesse served as vice president-commercial, a position to which he was named in June 1991. He began his career with Wheeling-Pittsburgh in 1962 and has held various management positions.
 Hesse is a graduate of West Virginia University and resides in Upper St. Clair, Pa., with his wife, Sandy. The couple have two children.
 Tuthill joined Wheeling-Pittsburgh in 1989 as vice president- purchasing, traffic and raw materials, a position he continued to hold until his new appointment. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and resides in Penn Hills, Pa., with his wife, Jean, and their son.
