 WHEELABRATOR TECHNOLOGIES FORMS SEC DONOHUE
OAK BROOK, Ill., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Wheelabrator Technologies

Inc. (NYSE: WTI) today announced the formation of SEC Donohue Inc., created through the merger of two industry-leading environmental and infrastructure engineering and consulting subsidiaries, Sirrine Environmental Consultants, Inc. and Donohue & Associates, Inc.
"SEC Donohue represents one of the nation's foremost environmental and infrastructure engineering and consulting resources," said Phillip B. Rooney, chairman and chief executive officer of Wheelabrator Technologies. "By combining these resources, we have assembled a team to help government and industry respond to increasing demands for solutions to difficult environmental issues."
Wheelabrator Technologies, the parent of Rust International Corp., a leading project management and engineering company, has in recent months significantly expanded its environmental engineering capabilities.
The formation of SEC Donohue follows Wheelabrator Technologies' acquisition of Sirrine Environmental Consultants from Chemical Waste Management, Inc. in January 1992 in exchange for Wheelabrator Technologies common stock. In September, Wheelabrator acquired Donohue, a Sheboygan, Wis.-based engineering, architecture and scientific services firm.
The newly formed division also includes environmental engineers of Rust International Corp. and selected environmental professionals, with particular expertise in landfill design, gas recovery and recycling, from Waste Management of North America.
Wheelabrator Technologies, Chemical Waste Management and Waste Management of North America are subsidiaries of Waste Management, Inc., the nation's leading environmental services company.
SEC Donohue will provide consulting services in the areas of hazardous and solid waste management, air quality control, water and wastewater treatment, industrial hygiene, in addition to transportation and infrastructure design services.
William L. Carpenter, former chief executive officer of Sirrine Environmental Consultants, will serve as chief executive officer of SEC Donohue.
"SEC Donohue may be new, but we've retained the quality, responsiveness, integrity and creativity that clients of both Sirrine Environmental Consultants and Donohue have come to expect," said Carpenter. "Between the two companies, we have more than 170 years of experience in environmental and infrastructure engineering and related services. We are a world-class environmental consultant."
Keith J. Garnett, former chief executive officer of Donohue, serves as chief development officer of the new organization. "Separately, Donohue and SEC are respected as leaders in infrastructure and environmental engineering and consulting," said Garnett. "Together we form a leading organization, providing unparalleled resurces and expertise to our clients."
Donohue Chief Operating Officer Thomas C. Leonhardt is senior vice president of operations for SEC Donohue, overseeing the firm's 10 geographic regions and functional divisions. A. Brent Brower is senior vice president of business development and marketing.
With nearly 2,000 professionals in 40 offices throughout the United States and in Hong Kong, SEC Donohue Inc. provides a full range of environmental consulting services to federal, municipal, industrial and commercial clients as well as the Waste Management family of companies. SEC Donohue will be headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina.
Wheelabrator Technologies Inc. is the nation's leading developer and operator of trash-to-energy and cogeneration facilities, offers clean air technologies, and provides a range of water and wastewater treatment services including sludge management and composting systems.
