WHAT a po-faced people.

Byline: eamonn holmes

WHAT a po-faced people we have become. All this hoo-ha about Linda Lusardi trying to get to her pantomime performance in time.

There was a time before Time in Motion Studies, Efficiency Reports, Health and Safety, Auditors and Accountants that someone would have said: "'Tis the season of good will. Think of all those disappointed little children if Linda and her husband don't make curtain up."

But no, some kill-joy decided not only should the lovely National Treasure's request be refused but that she should be publicly flogged for daring to ask for help. I understand her being turned down, I understand under what circumstances the 999 service should be used.

But I also understand doing things in the public interest, I understand humour, discretion, a bit of cheek and doing someone a good turn. To the snake in the grass who made all of this public - boo hiss!

When it comes to a helping hand, Linda Lusardi has a charity record that would put you to shame.

So, readers of The People, ignore all of this mud-slinging and remember Linda's good bits instead of this slur on her fine attributes.
