WHAT A FF-UP.. Franz Ferdinand (and fellow stars) get rubbished on own website as a net hijacker takes it over.

SCOTS rockers Franz Ferdinand were furious after an internet hijacker took over their official website and used it to rubbish them and fellow stars.

The Scottish supergroup have recorded one of the 40 tracks on a double album to celebrate Radio One's 40th anniversary this autumn.

Other stars on the album include Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, the Fratellis, KT Tunstall and Keane.

The internet raiders got into the www.franzferdinand.co.uk website and criticised the CD even before it's release on October 1.

They advocated that it should be downloaded illegally.

The message put on the website added: "Franz have covered David Bowie's 1977 single Sound And Vision for a new compilation marking the 40th anniversary of BBC Radio 1.

"The album features contemporary artist ZZZZ covering a song from each year since the station's first broadcast in 1967.

"Other highlights include: (1975) Kylie - Love Is The Drug (Roxy Music).

"Oh, and that's about it... and even that track has Calvin-bloody-Harris involved.

"The whole shabang doesn't appear to be for charity so point your browsers towards Limewire soon, kiddies!"

Within hours the website had been closed down and the remarks erased.

Franz Ferdinand lead singer Alex Kapranos said: "I don't know who put up that embarrassing bulletin on our ff.co.uk site. It wasn't anyone in the band.

"Fortunately we still have the keys to turn the bloody thing off."

Later Kapranos added: "The message that appeared on the band website was put there by someone who maintained the technical side of the site, but who is not a representative of the band.

"The message reflected their personal views. While we don't have a problem with this person attempting to think, it's not cool if their thoughts are presented as ours."

In between recording their next album, Franz Ferdinand will tour parts of Scotland next month, including Stirling, Fort William and Portree.
