WHARTON INTERNATIONAL FORUM DIRECTOR JOINS LUKENS BOARD

 COATESVILLE, Pa., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Lukens Inc. (NYSE: LUC) Board of Directors today elected Michael O. Alexander as a Director.
 Alexander is director of the International Forum at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
 Commenting on Alexander's election, Lukens Inc. chairman and chief executive R.W. Van Sant said, "Mr. Alexander's extensive experience in finance, investment banking and international business will enhance Lukens' Board of Directors as we continue to pursue and implement our long-term growth strategies."
 Alexander, 52, served from 1985 to 1989 as a director and member of the Executive Committee of Gordon Capital Corporation, an investment banking firm headquartered in Toronto, Canada. His experience includes 19 years with Touche Ross International (now Deloitte & Touche) where he served as executive partner and a member of the Board of Governors. From 1978-1982, Alexander was director of research and technical activities for the Financial Accounting Standards Board. He was responsible for the development of the International Forum at the Wharton School and has been director of the Forum since 1988.


Alexander has written numerous articles and columns on accounting, finance and business. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, Alexander holds a bachelor of commerce and licentiate in accounting from McGill University.
